My name is Charles Matthews and given my background I believe I have a right and a responsibility to the people of New South Wales to oppose and actively promote resistance to the concept of blatant Revenue Raising taxation within the state of New South Wales. |

In 1990 I was the first Mayor elected after Randwick was inaugurated as a City, I have in total 27 continuous years as a Councilor for Randwick City Council and I have in the past, opposed what I term, revenue raising within the City of Randwick. I am currently a sitting Councillor on Randwick City Council, elected as a member of the No Parking Meters Party (NPMP).
I first opposed the concept of revenue raising taxation within the City in 2001 and am still fighting the concept and still believe, if New South Wales State and Local Governments can not sustain themselves without levying the people of NSW through more taxation, then it is time for change.
New South Wales is the highest taxed State in Australia, a fact conveniently overlooked by NSW State and Local Governments, who are prepared to "grasp" any opportunity to further levy the people of NSW.

The No Parking Meters Party was founded on the 24th February 2006 and I wish to provide background information concerning our Party.
We were originally founded as a 'single-policy' party to oppose the introduction of Revenue Raising Paid Parking within the city of Randwick and we believe we achieved our aim.
Since that time we have been contacted from all corners of NSW, Action Groups and interested residents from Mosman, Ryde, Parramatta, Glebe, Balmain, Penrith, Leighhardt, City of Sydney, Cronulla, Bondi, Tamworth, Lismore, Dubbo, Wagga Waga, Nowra.
Even Ballarat in Victoria and Los Angeles California - The list goes on and on and on.
Our membership base grew until we were convinced that we had a platform which would 'BECOME THE VOICE OF NSW TAXPAYERS' disgusted with continuous levying and taxation by NSW State and Local Governments who have not and do not care about the burdens being placed on NSW families.
A "groundswell" of support throughout New South Wales for the NPMP has enabled us to increase our membership and members urged us to take the party to the 2011 State Elections standing candidates in the Legislative Council (Upper House) to lobby and to oppose blatant revenue raising and onerous taxation throughout the State.
So to 'stop-the-rot' and protect families, we are standing 18 candidates in the Legislative Council for the 2011 NSW State elections.

OUR POLICIES:
- Redirect revenue from traffic fines, parking fines and fuel to a roadside fund to be used for road improvements and the reduction and elimination of tolls on tunnels and motorways.
- Remove all Parking Meters (extra tax on the family).
- Exempt NSW residential properties from Land Tax.
- Remove the Toll on the Sydney Harbour Bridge (the people of NSW OWN the Bridge).
- Remove Mobile Speed Cameras (revenue raising, Highway Patrol is the best means of deterring speeding).
- Exempt purchases and mortgages of residential property from Stamp Duty.
- Remove the Poker Machine Tax (generate job opportunities within the Hospitality Industry).
- Transport. Immediately increase the efficient use of all existing resources and infrastructure. Complete M4 connection, extend light rail line and long term expansion of state rail network.
- We will require the Government to improve the NSW Hospital system and better conditions for Nurses, including 1 Nurse for 4 patients.
- We will oppose the sale of Hospitals, Schools and Police Stations.
- We will support Law and Order, more Police and tougher Court penalties for serious offences.
- We will support Small Business to create more job opportunities throughout NSW.
- We will support NSW Farmers Association.
- We will support a better medical service in rural areas.
- We will lobby the Federal Government to abolish the GST on Gas, Water and Electricity for All Pensioners.
WHEN YOU CONSIDER SOME OF THE TAXES MENTIONED ABOVE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABOLISHED WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF THE GST BUT WERE CONVENIENTLY "OVERLOOKED" - THEN IT IS TIME FOR CHANGE !!!
The main objective of the NPMP is to assist the people of NSW, NOT obstruct them.

The NPMP also believes that taxation should be kept to the absolute minimum and State and Local Governments must work within budgets and honour their pledges to the people of New South Wales.
Our candidates will continue to pressure the State and Local Governments to honour their responsibilities to you, the People of New South Wales. We need you to help us so we can help you.
